V.3.5.9 Grading Astrocytomas

ICD-O-3 rules are to be used for grading astrocytomas:

• WHO grades are NOT to be used in the 6th digit morphology position.
• If no grade (6th digit) is mentioned (such as well differentiated, moderately differentiated, poorly differentiated, etc.) registrars are to use code 9 (unknown).

• If only a WHO grade is given, code grade (6th digit) to 9 (unknown).

Note:  WHO Grade is ONLY coded in the SSF fields (specific SSF fields differ by site).
